About Me
My name is Madeline Burgin
Madeline Burgin is a filmmaker and screenwriter based in Georgia, known for her work in southern gothic storytelling. Born and raised on a steady diet of horror, sci-fi, and samurai films by her father, she fell in love with filmmaking.
In 2023, Madeline graduated with a Master’s of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. During her time there, she taught arts integration and screenwriting across the city.
As a writer, Madeline’s themes include girlhood, religion, class, and life in the South.
She draws inspiration from techniques such as cinema verite, the female gaze, and filmmaking as poetry.
Madeline's philosophy is storytelling through empathy and curiosity. She is passionate about giving back to her local community through filmmaking.
When she's not writing, Madeline can be found reading, out in nature, cuddling her dogs, or crafting.
